eGovernance - The Way Forward

The last few years we have seen e-governance taking off in various shapes and in various formats and in different part of the geography.

IT enables the delivery of government services as it caters to a large base of people across different segments and geographical locations. The effective use of IT services in government administration can greatly enhance efficiencies, reduce complexities, drive down communication costs, provide participative decision making and increase transparency & accountability in the functioning of various departments. It also gives citizens easy access to Government services including online form filling, tax processing, request tracking, eVoting, referendums, bill payments, procurement, distance education, home land security, centralized banking services and healthcare administration.

By using appropriate technology infrastructure and by redesigning/adapting existing processes, Governments can deliver several services to a broad cross section of population.

This blog will provide insights on different eGovernance approaches, links to various eGov sites, case studies, practical experiences and a place where discussions on improving the eGov initiatives and to learn from the past experiences from various implementations.
