Launch of an eGovernance Initiative

Finally I am back as promised earlier. The delay was due to a major eGovernance launch and I had to ensure that the services are released on time.

An aggressive time line was set and we were able to release a major eGovernance program covering 50 eservices in record time (less than 1 year!!!!). In the next few articles, I plan to write about my experiences in navigating this initiative that involved several stages and encountered several crisis situations.

This will also involve things related to technology, culture, budget, IT strategy, Execution, etc..
So expect me to be back in next few days to key in with my musings on this initiative.

eGovernance - The Way Forward

The last few years we have seen e-governance taking off in various shapes and in various formats and in different part of the geography.

IT enables the delivery of government services as it caters to a large base of people across different segments and geographical locations. The effective use of IT services in government administration can greatly enhance efficiencies, reduce complexities, drive down communication costs, provide participative decision making and increase transparency & accountability in the functioning of various departments. It also gives citizens easy access to Government services including online form filling, tax processing, request tracking, eVoting, referendums, bill payments, procurement, distance education, home land security, centralized banking services and healthcare administration.

By using appropriate technology infrastructure and by redesigning/adapting existing processes, Governments can deliver several services to a broad cross section of population.

This blog will provide insights on different eGovernance approaches, links to various eGov sites, case studies, practical experiences and a place where discussions on improving the eGov initiatives and to learn from the past experiences from various implementations.
